One of the original electric cars and still one of the best, the Nissan Leaf came out in 2011 and changed the landscape. This hugely popular car was faster and more powerful than its rivals, and it remains popular to this day.
You'll find it provides a very comfortable ride when driving at speed, and it's smooth enough to avoid noticing most potholes. It's quiet to drive, like most electric vehicles, and the high driving position provides good forward visibility.
There is plenty of space upfront, and while there is not too much headroom in the back, it's not really a problem. A long boot is practical and ensures you can fit in more, and the entry-level trim also comes with most of the things you will need including climate control, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.
The 7-inch touchscreen is very easy to use, and plenty of knobs help with accessing controls. The DAB radio and sat-nav also come as standard on all trims.
